Your NACC Chart Recap for the week ending June 13th is here.
Reminder: Due to Canada Day & Independence Day falling directly over the reporting window, there will be NO CHARTS the week of July 4. Also, please encourage your co-workers to sign up for this weekly recap! They can do that HERE. We’ve now topped 1000 subscribers!
As predicted here last week, we’ve crowned a new #1. After three weeks in-a-row on top, Mac Demarco graciously steps aside and Cleo Tucker & Harmony Tividad, better known as Girlpool, gladly take over the top spot. Girlpool live dates, mainly across the Southern US, continue for the next week or so. And a September European Tour was recently announced as well. Congrats to Anti- and Pirate for the chart-topper.
Last week’s most added record wastes no time reaching the Top 10. After debuting at #40 last week, Beach Fossils, race ahead to #7 this week. Fun fact: The jump gives Rachel Goswell of Slowdive two entries in the Top 10 as she’s featured on Beach Fossil’s “Tangerine” and her own band spends another week in the upper regions of the NACC 200. Not bad after 20+ years away.
Scoring the biggest jump of the week is Charles Frances Moothart, who goes by CFM. A multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, he is best known for his collaborations with Ty Segall (drumming in Segall’s current backing band and a member of GØGGS with Segall and Ex-Cult’s Chris Shaw). On his own, this is CFM’s second release and it soars from 190-53 this week.
Alt-J (Δ) have had select songs from their new album, Relaxer, out for months, and it’s raised the excitement for the full release to a fever pitch. That has led to one of the highest debuts on the NACC 200 we’ve had this year at #6. The English trio’s third album seems to be appealing to the masses with an impressive #14 debut on the Billboard 200 this week too. Kudos to Canvasback/Atlantic and The Syn for the impressive opening frame.
Finally, our #1 Add belongs to Dan Auerbach. His second album away from his band The Black Keys is his first solo release since 2009. College and community radio seem more than ready for it as Waiting On A Song is not only the top add-getter but already launches onto the NACC 200 at #19 this week.
