The NACC Charts for October 10 are LIVE!

Alvvays lock down #1 for a third straight week with Antisocialites and by doing so, become just the fifth artist to spend three or more weeks on top this year. Congrats to Polyvinyl and Shine On. The Toronto-based, w-averse quintet have become the darlings of college and community radio with two #1 records in as many tries. Spending a fourth week on top next week would put the band in the company of Ty Segall and Broken Social Scene for the longest run on top of 2017. They’ll have stiff competition though with a bunch of releases piled up behind them and eager for their own week on top.

The biggest climber of the three new records in our Top 10 this week comes from Deer Tick. The Providence, RI-based quartet started in 2004 with only one permanent member, lead singer John J. McCauley. His desire to make Deer Tick a full band came in 2007 and their debut release followed that year. The band’s sixth and seventh albums have been released simultaneously (and together) as Deer Tick, Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 and this week rises from 13-8. Joining Deer Tick in the Top 10 are Metz (11-9) and Death From Above (12-10).

The NACC 200’s overall biggest mover this week comes from Jessica Lea Mayfield. The Kent, OH musician recorded her first EP at 15 and printed only 100 copies. One of those copies landed in the hands of The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach who ended up producing Mayfield’s debut album. Her fourth LP, Sorry Is Gone, has been produced by legendary producer John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Kurt Vile) and this week jumps from 170-51.

Leaping aboard the NACC 200 this week at #24 is easily the band with the longest title we’ve featured here on our Wednesday Morning Chart Recap. The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die are a seven-member band from Willimantic, CT. Their third LP, Always Foreign, is the week’s highest debut. Kudos to The Syndicate, Pirate and Epitaph.

Protomartyr have the week’s most added record this week with their fourth studio album, and first on Domino, Relatives In Descent. The Detroit-based quartet should enjoy a lofty debut on the NACC 200 next week.
