The NACC Charts for Halloween are LIVE!

It’s been a while since we’ve been able to say it, but we have a new #1 on the NACC 200 this week! Alvvays relinquishes it’s 5-week lock on the top spot. More than happy to take over is Beck, who rises 2-1 with his 13th LP, Colors. Beck recorded the album with Grammy-winning producer (and The Bird And The Bee member) Greg Kurstin, who has worked with everyone from college/community favorites like The Shins and Tegan & Sara, to up-and-comers like Halsey & Shura to mainstream stalwarts like Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Foo Fighters and Pink. Together Beck and Kurstin played almost every instrument on the album themselves. Colors has been a huge success across the board: generally positive reviews, Beck’s 6th straight Top 10-debuting album on the Billboard 200, a Top 5 Alternative and #1-peaking AAA hit with “Up All Night” and now, a #1 NACC 200 record.

Hot on Beck’s heels is St. Vincent. She races from #13 (where she debuted last week) to #2 with her fifth LP, MASSEDUCTION. It follows up her 2014 self-titled release that was named Album Of The Year by The Guardian, Entertainment Weekly, NME and Slant. Her new album has been no slouch, receiving prefect ‘100’ reviews from six publications including The A.V. Club & DIY and is, at the moment, the 9th best reviewed record of 2017. St. Vincent has one of three new albums in our Top 10 this week. Joining her there are Bully (15-7) and Protomartyr (12-9).

The NACC 200’s biggest mover this week comes from New Jersey duo, The Front Bottoms. Contrary to popular belief, neither member’s rear end can be found on their front sides. Their name actually comes from a line in the 2000 Ben Kingsley movie Sexy Beast. Going Grey is the band’s sixth album and second on Fueled By Ramen and it soars from 145-25 this week.

This week’s highest debut comes from Slaughter Beach, Dog. It’s really a one-man project from Modern Baseball’s Jake Ewald. That band just went on hiatus less than three weeks ago with three farewell-for-now shows in Philadelphia. Ewald has released music before under this moniker including last year’s Welcome. Birdie opens on the NACC 200 this week at #40. Congrats to everyone at Lame-O Records and Terrorbird.

The album receiving the most Top 10 Adds this week is a collaboration between Italian composer Daniele Luppi and New York-based Parquet Courts and features a heavy dose of vocals from Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Karen O. MILANO is the follow-up to Luppi’s 2011 collaboration, Rome, with Danger Mouse, which featured vocals from Jack White and Norah Jones. MILANO easily grabs #1 Add honors and sneaks onto the NACC 200 at #195 this week so expect a huge jump next week, perhaps even next week’s biggest climb.

You can check out all of this week’s NACC #1s just below. Beck nabs a rare hat-trick by holding down #1 on the NACC 200, Non-Comm, and the NACC Next Charts. We have new #1s at Heavy (an impressive 21-1 jump for Trivium), Folk and a return to #1 on World.
