#1 Weyes Blood | The NACC Charts for April 30, 2019

Make it three weeks atop the NACC 200 for Natalie Mering aka Weyes Blood. Her fourth LP, Titanic Rising (Sub Pop), has fended off all comers to become the second longest-running #1 so far this year. Next week Jenny Lewis (3-3) will make another run at the top, but she’s got some new competition. Broken Social Scene soars 12-4 into the NACC Top 10 and moves into #1 contention as well.

Joining Broken Social Scene in the NACC Top 10 this week are Shana Cleveland (17-8) and The Mountain Goats, our biggest climber into the top tier this week soaring 99-9 with their seventeenth album, In League With Dragons. The Merge Records release was last week’s most-added record and wastes no time vaulting up the NACC 200 as the chart’s third biggest overall climber this week.

Twin brothers Zach and Ben Yudin record as Cayucas. The Santa Monica, CA-based duo enjoys the highest debuting album of the week with their third LP, Real Life, out on Park The Van. It jumps aboard the NACC 200 this week at #34, the only album to open inside the Top 40 of the chart. The brothers wrap their Spring tour with dates in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas this week.

This week’s biggest climb on the NACC 200 comes from Moscow, ID-born singer/songwriter Josh Ritter. Named one of the “100 Greatest Living Songwriters” by Paste Magazine in 2006, Ritter has just put out his tenth LP, Fever Breaks. The Pytheas/Thirty Tigers-released album leaps 188-75 on the chart this week.

Collecting the greatest number of Top 10 Adds this week is Seattle indie punk quartet Tacocat. Formed in 2007 by Emily Nokes, Breem McKenna, Lelah Maupin, and Eric Randall, the band’s Sub Pop debut (and fourth LP overall), This Is A Mess, grabs 96 official NACC adds and debuts on the NACC 200 at #88.

Beck jumps 5-1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week with “Saw Lightning,” a song he co-wrote with Pharrell Williams that will appear on his upcoming Hyperspace LP. The week’s most-added single comes from Irish duo Saint Sister. Their “Is It Too Early? (Kilmainham)” is the only single to make the NACC Top 30 overall adds this week.

You can find the Top 5 of the NACC Adds Chart and all of this week’s #1 genre releases and most-added genre records below. This week sees Jenny Lewis rise to #1 at both NACC Non-Comm & NACC NEXT, along with new chart-toppers at Jazz and World.
