#1 Cate Le Bon | The NACC Charts for June 18, 2019

Cate Le Bon stops Vampire Weekend just short of taking the title all to themselves for most weeks at #1 in 2019 on the NACC 200.  They remain in a tie with Girlpool and Weyes Blood at four weeks as Le Bon completes her chart-topping run, rising 6-4-2-1.  She tied Atl-J and Sharon Van Etten for the highest debut ever on the NACC 200 just a month ago.  Her fifth LP, Reward (out on Mexican Summer), is one of the best-reviewed albums of the year and will look to hold off Mavis Staples (6-3) and Flying Lotus (5-4) for a second week on top next week.

The Top 10 of the NACC 200 this week remains fairly stagnant with minimal shifting and only one new album making its Top 10 debut.  It’s from an album we featured here two weeks ago when Amyl And The Sniffers enjoyed the most-added album of-the-week.  We still don’t know what it is they are sniffing but we do know that this weektheyrise 12-9 with their self-titled debut LP, released by ATO Records.

Soaring aboard the NACC 200 at #12 is Stef Chura.  The Michigan native released her debut LP, Messes, in 2017 after the death of a close friend inspired her to cross making at least one record off her bucket list.  The album met with positive reviews and she soon signed to Saddle Creek who re-issued the album in 2018.  Now her sophomore album, Midnight, is here and becomes the third highest debut of the year, behind the aforementioned Sharon Van Etten and Cate Le Bon.

Last week’s most-added album from Palehound becomes this week’s fastest climber on the NACC 200 where it soars from 174-16.  Black Friday is the trio’s third LP and second for Polyvinyl Records.  If you’re eager to see Palehound live you’ll most likely need to be patient.  They have just two live shows between now and their October-Novermber tour: One in Brooklyn next month and another at RADfest in Asheville, NC in September.

The battle for adds this week could not have been closer and when the dust settled just one Top 10 Add separated #1 from #2.  Eeking past Calexico and Iron & Wine’s second collaborative project and first since 2005 is Crumb.  The New York City-based quartet formed in 2015 and their debut LP, Jinx, follows two previously released EPs.  It’s the only self-released album this year to take most-added honors.

Bon Iver‘s dual singles”Hey Ma” b/w “U (Man Like)” rise 6-1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week.  And Purple Mountains (the first new music from David Berman, who disbanded Silver Jews eleven years ago) has the most-added single of the week with “All My Happiness Is Gone.”

You can find the Top 20 of the NACC 200, the Top 5 of the NACC Adds Chart, and all of this week’s #1 genre releases and most-added genre records below.  There are new #1s at NACC Non-Comm (congrats to Mavis Staples), Latin, Hip Hop, Chill, and Electronic.
