#1 Wilco | The NACC Charts for November 26, 2019

The top tier of the NACC 200 has been interesting lately with albums peaking, falling, and then hanging tough and even rebounding. Records from Angel Olsen, DIIV, Big Thief, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and Cigarettes After Sex have all rebounded recently. But all of them sit behind Wilco, who, after rebounding to #1 themselves last week, hold steady to claim their third week atop the NACC 200 with Ode To Joy (dBpm), the band’s eleventh LP.

Two albums rise into the NACC 200’s Top 10. With one album taking both most-added and highest-debut honors this week (which we’ll showcase below) we can shine a feature spotlight on both of them. The first is the biggest mover into the Top 10. It comes from Atlanta duo Omni, who Vice Magazine just deemed “The best post-punk band in America.” Philip Frobos and Frankie Broyles (ex-Deerhunter) recently signed to Sub Pop, who has released Omni’s third LP, Networker. The album leaps 13-6 this week.

Also reaching the Top 10 this week is English musician Alexander O’Connor, who records as Rex Orange County. Pony is his third LP and first for RCA after two self-released efforts: 2016’s bcos u will never b free and 2017’s Apricot Princess. This week, Pony rises 11-9 on the NACC 200.

The aforementioned artist that locks down both the most-added and highest-debuting album this week is College and Community mainstay Beck. His fourteenth LP, Hyperspace, follows Colors, which won the Grammy for Best Alternative Album as well as topping our chart for a week back in October of 2017. Hyperspace already spawned a NACC Singles #1 with “Saw Lightning” this past May. It collects 80 Top 10 Adds this week and debuts on the NACC 200 at #26.

The week’s biggest climber comes from Paddy Harrowsmith aka Green Buzzard. Harrowsmith hails from Oberon in New South Wales, Australia. Green Buzzard started off as a band before dissolving into a solo project after the 2017 EP, Space Man Rodeo. Amidst The Clutter & Mess is Green Buzzard’s debut LP out on Aussie label, I Oh You.

Broken Bells returns to the top spot on NACC Singles this week with “Good Luck.” It’s their third week at #1. Modest Mouse returns with its third new single of 2019, “Ice Cream Party.” It follows their Record Store Day 7″ “Poison The Well” and “I’m Still Here.”

The Top 5 overall NACC Adds, all of this week’s #1 genre releases, and most-added genre records are included below. There are returns to #1 at NACC NEXT & Heavy as well as new #1s at Canadian, Blues, Chill, Soul/R&B, World, and Electronic.
