#1 Wolf Parade | NACC Charts for the week ending February 18

Wolf Parade and Andy Shauf battled it out for #1 this week and, in the end, Wolf Parade kept control of the pole position for a second week. Formed in 2003, The Montreal trio went on hiatus in 2011 before returning in 2016. Their fifth LP, Thin Mind (out on Sub Pop), is their second since their return. Joining Andy Shauf as a challenger for #1 next week are Destroyer (4-3) and Bombay Bicycle Club (5-4).

Three new albums reach the NACC Top 10 this week. Nada Surf jumps 16-7 and last week’s biggest NACC 200 climber, Dan Deacon, rises 20-10. But it’s Texas artists and tourmates Khruangbin and Leon Bridges who have teamed up for a collaboration that makes the biggest climb into the top tier, up 45-9 with their Texas Sun EP, out on Dead Oceans/Secretly Canadian.

The eagerly anticipated fourth album from Tame Impala leaps aboard the chart this week at #17. Formed in 2007 by artist and producer Kevin Parker, who records all his music solo in the studio but tours as a band, The Slow Rush has been percolating since the Spring of 2019 with various charting singles and the advance tracks version of the album reaching #11 on the NACC 200 in January.

Rising more quickly this week on the NACC 200 than any other artist is the Dutch trio The Homesick. Their second LP, and first for Sub Pop is titled The Big Exercise. The album leaps from 170-38 on the chart this week.

The most-added album of the week comes from Long Island-born musician Caroline Rose. Her fourth LP, Superstar (out on New West), collected 77 Top 10 adds this week as well as debuted at #57 on the NACC 200.

Pearl Jam spend their third (and final) week at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart with “Dance Of The Clairvoyants,” now that a second song has just been released from Gigaton, due March 27. Zach Taylor aka Dreamer Boy has the most-added single of the week with “Puppy Dog,” the first taste of his forthcoming as-yet-untitled sophomore LP.

The Top 5 overall NACC Adds, all of this week’s #1 genre releases, and most-added genre records are included below. There are new #1s at NACC Non-Comm, Heavy, Latin, R&B/Soul, and a return to #1 at Jazz.
