#1 Andy Shauf | NACC Charts for the week ending February 25

Proving that getting climbed over near the top of the NACC 200 is not a disqualifier for reaching #1, Andy Shauf rises to the top this week after spending three weeks at #2 and being climbed over 3-1 by Wolf Parade two weeks ago. The Saskatchewan-native climbs 2-1 with The Neon Skyline, his sixth LP and second for Anti-. He’ll work to fend off Destroyer and Tame Impala in search of a second week on top next week.

Speaking of Tame Impala, last week’s most-added and highest debuting album, The Slow Rush (out on Interscope), is anything but slow this week, racing 17-4 with its sights on #1. The album already reached #1 at NACC NEXT this week. The Kevin Parker project is the fourth LP under the Tame Impala moniker. Also reaching the Top 10 this week is Post Animal, rising 20-9.

Los Angeles duo Best Coast make huge waves this week with their fourth LP, Always Tomorrow. The Concord release, which features Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno, is this week’s most-added album (and the second most-added of 2020), with 92 Top 10 Adds, as well as this week’s highest debuting album, at #26.

The biggest climb on the NACC 200 this week comes from Alabama sister duo The Secret Sisters. Saturn Return is the fourth LP from Laura & Lydia Rogers and was produced by Brandi Carlile, as was their previous release, 2017’s You Don’t Own Me Anymore, which was nominated for a Best Folk Grammy. It climbs 181-44 on the chart this week.

With Best Coast grabbing two of our features this week, we can shine a light on one other artist this week. We always try to showcase someone who hasn’t been featured before which led us to British trio Shopping, who leap 120-20 on the NACC 200 this week with their fourth LP, All Or Nothing, produced, as their previous LP was, by Edwyn Collins.

Real Estate return for their second and final week at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart with “Paper Cup” (which features vocals from Slyvan Esso) now that their album, The Main Thing, is due out Friday. Purity Ring return with this week’s most-added single, “Stardew.” It’s the first taste of their upcoming third album, Womb, due out April 3.

The NACC Top 20, the Top 5 overall NACC Adds, all of this week’s #1 genre releases, and most-added genre records are included below. There are new #1s at NACC Non-Comm, NACC NEXT, Electronic, Folk, Chill, and a return to #1 at R&B/Soul.
