#1 Phoebe Bridgers | The NACC Charts for the Week Ending July 21

Los Angeles solo musician Phoebe Bridgers (and member of boygenius and Better Oblivion Community Center) enjoys a second week at #1 with her sophomore LP, Punisher (Dead Oceans). The album is one of the Top 5 best-reviewed of the year according to Metacritic. Bridgers will look to hold off two fast-charging competitors for the crown next week: Khruangbin (4-2) and The Beths (19-3).

Speaking of The Beths, the New Zealand quartet (who were the highest debut on last week’s NACC 200 as well as the week’s most-added) with their second LP, Jump Rope Gazers (Carpark), enjoys the biggest climb into the Top 10 with their 19-3 jump. Two other albums reach the Top 10 this week as well including Becca Mancari, who climbed 16-8.

The third record reaching our Top 10 this week comes from My Morning Jacket. The Louisville, KY band formed in 1998 and has released eight studio albums including their latest, the fortuitously titled The Waterfall II, (as it follows up their 2015 LP, The Waterfall). The ATO Records album is the highest debut of the year on the NACC 200 and the highest since July of 2019.

Landing the third biggest jump on the NACC 200 this year is St. Louis’ 100 gecs. The duo of Dylan Brady and Laura Les came up with the name 100 gecs after Les ordered a gecko online and received 100. 1000 gecs & The Tree Of Clues is a remix album following their 2019 album 1000 gecs. It features Fall Out Boy, Charli XCX, & Kero Kero Bonita, among others. The album soars 200-35 on the NACC 200 this week.

The most-added album of the week comes from Los Angeles quartet illuminati hotties. Fronted by Sarah Tudzin, the band formed in 2017 and have released two LPs including their latest, FREE I.H.: This Is Not The One You’ve Been Waiting For. The album is the first self-released album of 2020 to land at #1 on the NACC Adds Chart.

Last week’s most-added single (“For Sure”) from Future Islands debuts at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week. It’s also one of just three singles to reach the Top 40 on the NACC 200 this year. The Radio Dept. enjoy the most-added single of the week with their new singles, “You’re Lookin’ At My Guy” b/w “Could You Be The One.”

The NACC Top 5 overall Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. There are new #1s at Blues, Jazz, Electronic & World as well a return to #1 on Chill.
