Phoebe Bridgers locks down #1 for a third week with sophomore LP, Punisher

The fight for #1 on the NACC 200 was a fierce one this week, but in the end Phoebe Bridgers, who has also reached the NACC Top 10 as a member of boygenius and Better Oblivion Community Center, locked down #1 for a third week with her sophomore LP, Punisher (Dead Oceans). Her closest competitors (Khruangbin and The Beths) currently top NACC’s two other big charts (NACC Non-Comm and NACC NEXT, respectively). So next week’s NACC 200 crown is within several artist’s grasp.

Only one artist reaches the NACC 200’s Top 10 this week. With a massive 168-9 jump, Chicago trio Dehd is not only this week’s biggest (by default) climb into the Top 10 but also the NACC 200’s biggest climber. Dehd formed in 2015 and their latest LP, Flower Of Devotion (Fire Talk), is their third studio album.

The week’s highest debut comes from last week’s most-added artist: Illuminati Hotties. The band’s self-released second LP, FREE I.H.: This Is Not The One You’re Been Waiting For leaps aboard the NACC 200 at #14 and is the fifth ‘highest debut’ in-a-row to open inside the Top 20 (a new record streak of Top 20-debuting albums).

With Dehd taking two of our feature spots we are able to showcase another artist this week. We decided to go with the second-highest debut of the week. It comes from ambient electronic artist Julianna Barwick. The Louisiana-born, Brooklyn-based musician began making music in 2006 and has released four LPs including her latest, Healing Is A Miracle (Ninja Tune). The album debuts at #37 on the NACC 200 this week.

Enjoying this week’s most-added album is Detroit, MI-based quartet, Protomartyr. The band has released five LPs since its inception in 2008, including their two most-recent on Domino Records. Their latest, Ultimate Success Today, collects 53 Top 10 Adds with the album racing 154-54 on the NACC 200 this week as well.

Future Islands dominates the NACC Singles Chart for a second week with their new single, “For Sure.” Rising star Beabadoobee lands the most-added single of the week with “Care,” from her newly announced debut LP, Fake It Flowers. The song already soared 27-2 on NACC Singles this week.

The NACC 200’s Top 5 overall NACC Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. There are new #1s at NACC NEXT, NACC Canadian, Jazz, Electronic, & World as well a return to #1 at Blues.
