Fontaines D.C. holds strong at #1 this week with sophomore LP

Dublin, Ireland quintet Fontaines D.C. holds strong at #1 on the NACC 200 this week with their sophomore LP, A Hero’s Death. Formed in 2017 after attending music college and bonding over their common love of poetry, the band signed to Partisan Records in 2018. A Hero’s Death holds off challenges for the top from Washed Out (3-2) and Protomartyr (5-4).

Two new albums reach the NACC Top 10 this week. The Psychedelic Furs rises 12-9 with their first new album in nearly 30 years. But it’s Montreal, Quebec trio Land Of Talk that makes the biggest climb into the top tier, moving 13-7 and scoring their second NACC Top 10-charting album. Indistinct Conversations is Land Of Talk’s fourth LP overall, all released on Saddle Creek Records, dating back to the band’s inception in 2006.

The NACC 200’s highest debut this week comes from Washington DC spoken word and post-punk musician Eva Moolchan, who records as Sneaks. Her fourth LP, Happy Birthday, is her third on Merge Records. The album is one of two to debut inside the NACC Top 40 this week, opening at #32 (the other being Bright Eyes at #39).

Making the biggest move up the NACC 200 this week is Canadian band Fast Romantics. Formed in Calgary but now based in Toronto, the sextet’s fourth LP, Pick It Up, soars from 179-61 on the chart this week. The album is their first released on frontman Matthew Angus’ label Postwar.

This week’s most added album ties Washed Out for the most Top 10 Adds since April. A Minnesota native that now calls Nashville home, Alicia Bognanno, who records as Bully, collects 69 Top 10 Adds, besting the #2 add by 26 adds. SUGAREGG is the third LP (and second from Sub Pop) from Bully and debuts on the NACC 200 at #52.

Bon Iver locks down #1 on the NACC Singles Chart for a second week with their second single of 2020, “AUATC.” Dirty Projectors‘ new single “Holy Mackerel” grabs the most Top 10 adds this week. It’s the first taste of the third of their planned five EP-cycle. Super João is due out September 4.

The NACC 200’s Top 5 overall NACC Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. In addition to returns to #1 on the Hip Hop, Chill, and Latin Charts, there are new chart-toppers at NACC Non-Comm, NACC NEXT, & Folk as well.
