Bully locks down a third straight week on the NACC 200 with SUGAREGG

Handily batting down any competition for the top spot is Alicia Bognanno aka Bully who locks down a third straight week on the NACC 200 with her third release, SUGAREGG (Sub Pop). The Minnesota-born, Nashville-residing artist will have her first real test for the top spot next week with both Osees (11-2) and Cults (16-4) soaring into the Top 5 this week and lining themselves up for #1.

In addition to the two aforementioned climbs into the NACC Top 5 from outside the Top 10, Declan McKenna also rises into the Top 10, up 15-10. But it’s NYC duo Cults who receive their third NACC Chart Recap feature in-a-row by making the biggest climb into the Top 10 (after enjoying the highest debut last week and the most-added record two weeks ago) with their fifth LP, Host (Sinderlyn).

After debuting at #200 last week, we figured the most-added record from former Dirty Projectors member Deradoorian might make an impressive climb this week. But impressive turns out to be an understatement. Her second solo LP, Find The Sun, sky-rockets 179 spots, which technically ties her with Anna Burch for the biggest climb ever on the NACC 200 (though Burch did climb higher, moving 194-15). Regardless, big stuff!

Simultaneously scoring this week’s highest debut and the most-added record is Seattle quintet Fleet Foxes. Formed in 2006, the band has released four LPs, including their latest, Shore. The Anti- release leaps aboard the NACC 200 at #16 and collects the third-most Top 10 adds of the year with 93. Only Soccer Mommy (116) and Destroyer (96) got more.

With Fleet Foxes taking two features we are happy to feature the second-highest debut on the NACC 200 this week as well. It comes from Boston-based artist Anjimile Chithambo who records simply at Anjimile. Giver Taker (out on Father/Daughter) is billed as the trans and non-binary artist’s debut though they have multiple self-released albums as well. The album debuts at #34 on the NACC 200 this week.

New Order steps 2-1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week with their recent most-added single, “Be A Rebel,” their first new music in five years. Kurt Vile returns with “How Lucky,” the first single from his forthcoming EP, Speed, Sound, Lonely KV, due October 2. The most-added single of the week is a duet he recorded with his hero, the late, great John Prine, who tragically died from COVID in April.

The NACC 200 Top 5 overall adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. In addition to returns to #1 at Jazz, Latin, and Blues, there are new chart-toppers at NACC Canadian, Heavy, Electronic, R&B/Soul, and Folk.
