Fleet Foxes soar to #1 in three weeks with fourth album, Shore

Soaring to #1 on the NACC 200 in just three weeks is the Seattle five-piece Fleet Foxes. The band’s fourth album, Shore (Anti-) debuted at #23 just two weeks ago and finishes its climb to #1 this week, moving 2-1. Fleet Foxes also command the NACC NEXT and NACC Non-Comm Charts for a second week. They’ll look for a second week on top next week with Idles (4-3) and Sylvan Esso (13-4) looking to challenge.

Two artists reach the NACC 200’s Top 10 this week. Along with the aforementioned Sylvan Esso, Dallas-born, Boston-based non-binary singer-songwriter Anjimile Chithambo, who records just using their first name, Anjimile leaps 24-10 with Giver Taker, their debut album out on Father/Daughter Records.

Making the NACC 200’s highest debut this week is Laura Jane Grace with her second solo release, Stay Alive (Polyvinyl). Grace is also the front-woman for Against Me!, a band she began writing music for at 17 and began performing as in 1998 when she moved to Gainesville, FL. Stay Alive is her ninth combined LP between her solo and band work and debuts on the NACC 200 at #40 this week.

Canadian punk trio Metz make an impressive 74-11 jump on the NACC 200 this week with their fourth LP, Atlas Vending (Sub Pop). Formed in 2008 in Ottawa, the band now resides in Toronto. Fun fact: Metz’s first two albums were both long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize in 2013 and 2015.

Collecting more Top 10 Adds than any other artist this week is Slow Pulp. Formed in Madison, WI but now based in Chicago, the band began recording their debut album Moveys (Winspear) back in 2019, but it was put on hold after lead singer Emily Massey’s Mono and Lyme disease diagnosis.

Romy Madley Croft, who records simply as Romy, has stepped away from her band, the xx, for her first solo release. “Lifetime” leaps from 23-1 on NACC Singles this week. Sinead O’Connor resurfaces for the first time since 2016 with a cover of Mahalia Jackson’s “Trouble Of The World” to benefit Black Lives Matters charities. It’s this week’s most-added single.
