Sylvan Esso rises to #1 on the NACC 200 this week with their third LP, Free Love

After waiting patiently at #2 for two weeks, Sylvan Esso rises to #1 on the NACC 200 this week with their third LP, Free Love (Loma Vista). The Durham, NC duo of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn score their first NACC 200 #1 with their 2-1 climb. Death Valley Girls (3-3), Beabadoobee (8-4) and Gorillaz (31-5) will challenge for #1 as soon as next week.

Speaking of Gorillaz, they land one of two new albums to reach the NACC Top 10 this week and makes the biggest climb with their 31-5 leap. Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez (Parlophone/Warner) is the seventh LP from the virtual band created by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett in 1998. Also reaching the Top 10 is The Budos Band, rising 13-9.

The NACC 200’s biggest climb this week is a big one. Toronto band Pup lands the fourth biggest climb of the year leaping 168 spots (196-28) with their amusingly titled third EP, This Place Sucks Ass (Little Dipper/Rise). Formed in 2010, the Canadian quartet also have three LPs under their belt.

Also making an impressive move on the NACC 200 (the biggest into the NACC Top 20) is Indiana-born, Minnesota-raised musician Adrianne Lenker. The Big Thief member just released two solo releases entitled Songs and Instrumentals. Songs (4AD/Beggars Group) is the one making the move, rising 167-20 on the NACC 200 this week.

Taking most-added honors this week is Jeff Tweedy. After releasing 10 albums with his band Wilco, Tweedy has been busy as a solo musician releasing four albums under his own name since 2017 with just one Wilco LP in that time. His fourth LP, Love In The King (on his own dBpm imprint), collects 75 Top 10 Adds and climbs 100-65 on the NACC 200.

Last week’s most-added single, “Faith Healer” from Julien Baker, leaps 18-1 on NACC Singles this week. Tenacious D‘s cover of The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s classic “Time Warp” is the most-added single this week. They recorded it to help support Rock The Vote and the song features a bevy of political, musical, and acting titans.

The top 5 overall NACC Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. In addition to the return to #1 at World, there is new chart-topper at Chill.
