Beabadoobee rises 4-1 with her debut LP, Fake It Flowers

The battle for #1 on the NACC 200 this week was a four-artist fight between last week’s #1 from Sylvan Esso and three artists rising up inside the Top 5: Death Valley Girls, Beabadoobee, and Gorillaz. In the end, Beabadoobee (the recording name for British singer Beatrice Laus) rose 4-1 with her debut LP, Fake It Flowers (Dirty Hit). Gorillaz (up 5-3) will give Beabadoobee another run for #1 next week.

Longtime indie-rock favorite Jeff Tweedy makes the biggest climb into the NACC Top 10 this week with his fourth solo LP away from his band Wilco. Love Is The King (dBpm) leaps 65-8. Two other albums also reach the NACC Top 10: Helena Deland’s Someone New (14-9) and The Mountain Goats’ Getting Into Knives (10-6).

San Francisco trio Fuzz (Charles Moothart, Ty Segall, and Chad Ubovich) enjoys the NACC 200’s biggest climb this week with their cleverly-titled third LP, III (In The Red). Formed in 2011, III is their first LP since 2015 and it jumps from 130-24.

The fourth LP from Barcelona, Spain-based trio Mourn is the highest debut on the NACC 200 this week. Fronted by co-vocalists and long-time best friends Carla Pérez Vas and Jazz Rodríguez Bueno, this is the band’s first album since the departure of drummer Antonio Postius. Self Worth (Captured Tracks) jumps onto the NACC 200 at #38.

Formed in 1995, Los Angeles band Eels returns with their 13th LP, Earth To Dora (E-Works/PIAS). The album is this week’s most-added, collecting 78 Top 10 Adds. Eels is largely the brainchild of Mark Oliver Everett (known by the stage name E) who is the only constant member of the band over the course of its existence.

Critically acclaimed singer and actress, Janelle Monáe, rises 3-1 on NACC Singles this week with “Turntables,” from the Amazon movie All In: The Fight For Democracy. Alaska Reid’s new song “Boys From Town” is this week’s most-added single and the only one to land on the overall NACC Top 30 Adds Chart this week.
