Jeff Tweedy earns his second NACC 200 #1 with “Love Is The King”

After Gorillaz became just the second act to land three #1s on the NACC 200 last week (tying Ty Segall) another artist joins them this week. Jeff Tweedy rises 2-1 with Love Is The King (dBpm), his second solo #1 on the chart. His band Wilco also previously topped the NACC 200, giving him three #1s. We’ve also tied the quickest turnover in 2020 with five different #1s in five weeks (something that most recently happened in February-March).

Two new albums reach the NACC 200 last week: the late Sharon Jones rises 14-10 with her band The Dap-Kings. But (speaking of Ty Segall) it’s San Francisco trio Fuzz who makes the biggest climb into the upper tier. Segall’s project with musicians Charles Moothart and Chad Ubovich has their third LP, III (In The Red) climb 12-8 this week.

Last week’s most-added album is this week’s highest debut on the NACC 200. Aesop Rock, the recording name for Portland-based musician Ian Bavitz, jumps aboard the chart this week at #36 as well as climbing 11-4 on the NACC Hip Hop Chart.

Legendary rock band AC/DC are back. The Australian quintet is one of the 10 best-selling artists ever in the US, has the best-selling album ever by a band (Back In Black), and was inducted in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2003. Formed in 1973, the band’s 17th LP, Power Up (Columbia) is their first since 2014 and just debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. Power Up soars 178-50 on the NACC 200 this week and rises 17-1 on NACC Heavy. Also worth mentioning is that along with AC/DC, three bands most consider to be in the all-time Heavy Metal Top 10 are also Top 10 at NACC Heavy this week (Motorhead, Pantera, and Iron Maiden).

This week’s most-added album comes from British trio, The Cribs. The all-brother trio of twins Gary and Ryan Jarman along with their younger brother, Ross, formed in 2001, and collects 47 Top 10 Adds this week. Their eighth LP, Night Network (Sonic Blew/PIAS), is their first wholly self-produced album and also debuts at #170 on the NACC 200 this week.

Foo Fighters, the most successful Alternative band of all time according to Billboard, is back with “Shame Shame,” the first single from their upcoming 10th LP, Medicine At Midnight (due February 5). It leaps 22-1 on NACC Singles this week. Parquet Courts returns with a previously unreleased song they recorded in 2013 during the sessions for their 2014 LP, Sunbathing Animal. “Hey Bug” is the most added single of the week.

The Top 5 overall NACC Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. In addition to a return to #1 at NACC Jazz and Blues, there are new chart-toppers at Hip Hop, Heavy, and Electronic.
