Arlo Parks spends a fourth week atop the NACC 200

We’re running out of superlatives to describe British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks‘ complete domination on the NACC Charts. Her debut LP, Collapsed In Sunbeams (Transgressive/PIAS), spends a fourth week atop the NACC 200 and continues to build what is perhaps the biggest lead any album has ever amassed over the #2 record on the chart. She also commands the NACC Non-Comm, NACC NEXT, and R&B/Soul Charts again this week, though she does surrender the #1 spot at NACC Canadian.

The Top 10 of the NACC 200 is as static as it’s been in a while with the Top 9 all carrying over from last week. The only artist to make a dent in the top tier is Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, who edges ahead 11-10, which is the smallest move you can make to get into the Top 10 (we’re good at math). New Fragility (CYHSY/Secretly) is one of only three records that have made that tiny, yet consequential move into the NACC Top 10.

Storming the NACC 200 this week at #18 is singer and songwriter Katy Kirby. Brought up in an evangelical Christian family in a small town in Texas, she had no exposure to secular music at all growing up. Her unique sound caught the ears of Keeled Scales (a red-hot label so far in 2021), and they have put out her debut LP, Cool Dry Place, which is one of just five records to debut inside the Top 20 of the NACC 200 so far this year.

The NACC 200’s biggest climb this week comes from Austin, TX-based Anthony Watkins II, who records as Mobley. His first EP surfaced in 2018 and various singles followed. Now signed to Last Gang Records, the socially conscious artist has his pulse on these politically charged times with his new EP, Young & Dying In The Occidental Supreme, which leaps 160-43 on the NACC 200 this week.

Cleveland, OH quartet Cloud Nothings are back with its eighth album, The Shadow I Remember. Started in 2009 as a solo project for lead singer Dylan Baldi, Carpark signed Baldi and put out an expanded edition of his debut release, Turning On, in 2010. Cloud Nothings became a full-fledged band that same year. Their latest effort nabs 72 Top 10 Adds this week and debuts at #109 on the NACC 200.

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and producer Christopher Brent Wood, who records as Brent Faiyaz, reaches #1 on the NACC Singles Chart with his new single, “Gravity,” which features Tyler, The Creator. Indie favorites Dinosaur Jr. are back with the first taste of their first LP in five years. “I Ran Away” is the only single to make the NACC Adds Chart this week and previews Sweep It Into Space, which comes out April 23.

The NACC 200’s Top 5 overall Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. There are new chart-toppers at Heavy, Blues, Folk, Hip Hop, Electronic, and NACC Canadian.
