MARCH MD of the MONTH:
Lottie Leymarie,
BTRtoday

1. How did you first hear about BTRtoday? I answered a job add for a podcast host in 2007. The rest is history!

2. How long have you been at BTRtoday (what is your history there), and how did you end up in radio? I have been at BTRtoday for 10 years. I started my career in radio while I was in college at Fordham University. I worked for WFUV, 90.7FM.

3. What are you most proud of accomplishing at BTRtoday since you became MD?
Although we are not going to SXSW this year, I have been very proud of the shows we have thrown during the festival in the past. I’ve gotten to book some of my favorite acts like Deerhoof and Har Mar Superstar. One year, we had a line of people standing in the pouring rain waiting to get in to our show. I loved that!

4. How would you say you differ from a tradition radio station? We are an entertainment platform with articles, videos and podcasts. I am technically the “gate-keeper” when it comes to the music side of things, but our hosts, who are all huge music fans, curate their shows with whatever songs, bands, and artists they love. Every show that you listen to is unique and well-thought out.

5. What do you love most/dislike most about New York City? I love the people! The food! The culture! I dislike jackhammers early in the morning.

6. Who are your all-time Top 5 favorite artists/bands? I have so many favorite artists and bands, that it would be unfair for me to narrow it down. I may be able to work on a top 50 list for you!

7. What artist/band did you hear for the first time in the last year that impressed you the most? There were a few! I would have to say, Vagabon, Mariya May, Deepakalypse, Jerk, Y la Bamba, Sneaks and Katie Dey.

8. What still-to-come 2017 album release are you most looking forward to? A few! Grizzly Bear, Gorillaz, LCD Soundsystem, – Raekwon, Chilly Gonzales & Jarvis Cocker,Timber Timbre…

9. What’s the best gift anyone has ever given you? I was super stoked when I received a stereo system for Christmas in 8th grade. It had a dual cassette deck and a 5 disc CD changer.

10. What is your perfect pizza? I lived in the Bronx during college. My favorite slice was at the now-defunct pizzeria, Mike’s. The Sicilian slice was perfection.

11. What country would you most like to visit? I have a huge list of places I would like to go!

12. Do you find it better to keep up on current political events or do you prefer to tune it all out and pretend it’s not happening? Well, during these times, I go from obsessively reading the news to having days where I try not to look at anything. I am trying to find a healthy balance.

13. Lightning Round:
Dog or Cat? Dog
Too Hot or Too Cold? Too Hot
Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi
Mountain or Beach? Beach
City or Country? City
Watch TV or Read A Book? Book
Cab or Train? Cab
