Arlo Parks spends double-digit weeks at #1

We’re starting to think a secret pact has been signed with every artist but Arlo Parks that said she can have the #1 spot on the NACC 200 in perpetuity! After taking the all-time #1 crown from Mitski last week, the British singer-songwriter pads her lead with, Collapsed In Sunbeams (Transgressive/PIAS) which becomes the first album to spend double-digit weeks at #1. It’s possible this will be her last week at #1 on the NACC 200 as she has surrendered the top spot on the four other NACC Charts she topped. But we thought that might be the case this week too so you never know!

Two new albums rise into the NACC Top 10 this week and both make huge leaps to reach the top tier. Last week’s most-added record from Flock Of Dimes soars 38-5. But the biggest climb into the Top 10 comes from the four-piece South London band Dry Cleaning, who formed in 2018. The band’s simultaneous love for post-punk and fabric restoration helps them leap 47-10 with their debut LP, New Long Leg (4AD/Beggars Group).

Chicago quartet Ratboys returned with their first compilation album, Happy Birthday, Ratboy (Topshelf). To celebrate the band’s 10th anniversary, they paired new recordings of songs from their debut EP, Ratboy, with a collection of early rarities. The album scored the highest debut of the week on the NACC 200 jumping aboard at #26.

Making the biggest climb on the NACC 200 this week is British DJ, musician, and producer Sam Shepherd, who records as Floating Points. Promises (Luaka Bop) is Floating Points’ third LP and teams him with jazz saxophonist Pharoah Sanders and the London Symphony Orchestra. The album jumps 128-40 on the NACC 200 this week

Collecting more Top 10 Adds than any other record adding this week is Philadelphia trio The Spirit Of The Beehive. Formed in 2014, the band has released four studio albums, including their latest, Entertainment, Death (Saddle Creek). In addition to most-added honors, the album makes its NACC 200 debut this week at #92.

Beatrice Laus, who records as Beabadobee, rises to 2-1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week with “Last Day On Earth,” the first single from her upcoming EP, Our Extended Play, due later this Spring. The most added single this week is the second this year to land on the NACC Charts from Brooklyn by way of Boston quartet Crumb. “Balloon” is the only single to make the NACC 200 Adds Chart this week.

The NACC 200’s Top 20, the Top 5 overall NACC Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. There are new chart-toppers at Heavy, R&B/Soul, Hip Hop, and Latin this week.
