King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard rise 2-1 with their second NACC 200 chart-topper

After five chart-locking weeks at #1, Japanese Breakfast steps aside allowing Melbourne, Australia six-piece King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard to rise 2-1 with their second NACC 200 chart-topper, Butterfly 3000, out on their own KGLW imprint. Formed in 2010, this is the band’s 18th LP and this is the 9th time we’ve featured them in our weekly NACC Chart Recap. Lining up behind King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard next week to challenge for #1 are Modest Mouse (3-2), Hiatus Kaiyote (5-4), and Clairo (14-5)

Speaking of Clairo, she leads three new albums into the NACC Top 10. Her nine-spot rise is the biggest into the top tier this week. Two weeks ago we featured Claire Cottrill here when her sophomore LP Sling (FADER/Republic) was the most-added of the week. This week the album becomes her second straight Top 5-peaking album. Newly joining her in the Top 10 is Half Waif (13-8) and Spud Cannon (17-9).

Making the biggest climb into the NACC Top 20 this week is Tyler Okonma, who records as Tyler, The Creator. His musical career began in 2007 as the de facto frontman for the musical collective Odd Future. The Grammy winner’s sixth solo LP, CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST (Columbia) leaps 72-11 on the NACC 200 as well as an 8-2 climb at NACC Hip-Hop.

The chart’s highest debut this week comes for British political journalist turned musician, Anikka Henderson who records as Anika. Her second studio album, Change (Sacred Bones), leaps onto the NACC 200 this week at #21 leading a crop of big-name Top 40 debuts from Molly Burch, Brittany Howard, Descendents, and Durand Jones And The Indications.

Scoring more Top 10 Adds than any of the artists going for adds this week is Florida-born, Georgia-raised musician MacKenzie Scott, who records as Torres. Her fifth LP, Thirstier (Merge), collects 59 Top 10 Adds this week and debuts on the NACC 200 at #113.

Courtney Barnett spends a third week at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart with “Rae Street.” It comes from her third LP, Things Take Time, Take Time (due out in November). Three songs tie for the most added single this week: Ben Harper & Ziggy Marley‘s “Spin It Faster,” Jungle‘s “Truth,” and We Were Promised Jetpacks‘ “Fat Chance.”
