Shannon & The Clams hold down #1 with their sixth LP, Year Of The Spider

The Top 10 of the NACC 200 saw some of the biggest turnover we’ve seen in some time. Four records reached the top tier with three albums soaring into the Top 5 (two from outside the Top 30). In the end Oakland, CA quartet Shannon & The Clams survived a scare and held down the top spot with their sixth LP, Year Of The Spider (Easy Eye Sound/Concord). It will be anyone’s guess who sits at #1 next week with Turnstile (9-2), Low (37-3), and Amyl & The Sniffers (69-4) all in the running to potentially overtake Shannon & The Clams for the top spot.

As cited just above, four albums reached the NACC Top 10. The aforementioned Low (37-3) and Little Simz (14-7) were two of them. The biggest climb into the top tier belongs to Melbourne, Australia’s four-piece, Amyl & The Sniffers. Named after Australia’s slang for poppers (amyl), the band formed in 2016. Comfort To Me (ATO) follows their 2019 self-titled debut LP, which also peaked inside the NACC Top 10.

Also reaching the Top 10 this week is We Were Promised Jetpacks. A most-added honoree two weeks go and the NACC 200’s highest debut last week, the band zips 34-9 on the chart this week with their fifth LP, Enjoy The View (Big Scary Monsters). The Scottish trio has been making music together since 2003.

The NACC 200’s biggest climb this week comes from the London five-piece The Vaccines. Coming together as a band in 2010, the band has recorded five studio albums, including its latest, Back In Love City (AWAL). It’s the only album to climb more than 100 spots on the NACC 200 this week, rising 144-35.

Taking dual honors this week is Swedish folk artist, Jose González. His fourth LP, and first since 2015’s Vestiges & Claws, is called Local Valley (Mute). The new record is simultaneously the most-added of the week (collecting the most Top 10 Adds (72) since early April), and the highest debut on the NACC 200 at #41.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats enjoys a third straight week atop the NACC Singles Chart with “Survivor.” It’s the first single from their upcoming third LP, The Future, due November 5. The most-added single this week comes from Lindsey Jordan, who records as Snail Mail. “Valentine” is her first new music since 2019 and is the title track from her upcoming second LP, also due November 5. The song already debuted at #10 on the NACC Singles Chart this week.
