Low holds down #1 for a third straight week with their 13th LP, “HEY WHAT”

The Duluth, MN duo of Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker, who have recorded as Low since 1993, holds down #1 on the NACC 200 for a third straight week with their 13th LP, HEY WHAT (Sub Pop). The album, although decreasing in points this week, holds the biggest lead they’ve had so far over the other albums challenging them for #1. But the lead still isn’t huge and next week Jose Gonzalez (4-2) and Sufjan Stevens & Angelo De Augustine (7-4) will challenge Low for the top spot.

Two albums reach the NACC 200’s Top 10 this week. Alexandra Levy, who records as Ada Lea, rises 16-9 with her sophomore LP, one hand on the steering wheel the other sewing a garden (Saddle Creek). The Montreal songwriter tied Sufjan Stevens & Angelo De Augustine two weeks ago for most-added honors. This week she lands her first NACC Top 10 album.

The other album reaching the Top 10 of the NACC 200 comes from Los Angeles quartet Illuminati Hotties and makes by far the biggest climb of the week into the top tier, soaring 125-8. The band’s third album, Let Me Do One More (Snack Shack Tracks/Hollywood), ties for the second biggest climb on the NACC 200 this week and is only the sixth album this year to climb from outside the top half of the NACC 200 into the Top 10.

Scoring the highest debut of the week is Austin, TX duo Hovvdy (pronounced ‘howdy’). Formed in 2014 by Charlie Martin and Will Taylor, the band’s fourth LP, True Love (Grand Jury), soars onto the NACC 200 at #11. Their lofty debut ties them with Mannequin Pussy for the third-highest debut of 2021 on the NACC 200.

Chicago songwriter Lilly West, who records as Lala Lala, returns with her second album to score NACC’s most-added album of the week. Her sophomore LP, The Lamb, was the week’s most added the week it went for adds in September of 2018. Her third album, I Want The Door To Open (Hardly Art), collects 67 Top 10 Adds this week and debuts at #102 on the NACC 200.

Courtney Barnett returns to #1 on the NACC Singles Chart for a second time with a preview track from her upcoming LP, Things Take Time, Take Time (due November 12). “Write A List Of Things To Look Forward To” follows her August chart-topper “Rae Street” jumping 14-1 and is the biggest climber on the NACC 200 this week, up 164-25. The Lighthouse & The Whaler lands the most-added single of the week with “Stay With Me.” It was the only single to make the overall NACC 200 Adds Chart this week. The song comes from their soon-to-be-released fourth LP, Talk, due October 22.
