After placing three previous LPs on the NACC 200, Bristol five-piece IDLES go where they’ve never been before: #1 on the NACC 200. Their fourth LP, Crawler (Partisan), climbs 2-1 on the chart this week edging out Curtis Harding for the top spot. The margin between the artists was a slim one and could set us up for a rematch next week, the final new charts in 2021. Although The War On Drugs relinquishes their hold on the NACC 200, they do top both the NACC NEXT and Non-Comm Charts for another week.

Two new albums reach the NACC Top 10 this week. San Francisco duo The Dodos makes the biggest move rising 20-10 with their eighth LP, Grizzly Peak (Polyvinyl). Formed in 2005 by Meric Long and Logan Kroeber, we last featured The Dodos here in 2018 when their previous LP, Certainty Waves, took most-added honors.

Also reaching the NACC 200’s Top 10 are two legendary artists. One is the vocalist for what many consider one of the most influential and innovative rock bands of all time: Led Zeppelin. The other has won 27 Grammys, the fourth-most in the history of the awards. Robert Plant & Alison Krauss have teamed up for their second collaborative album, Raise The Roof (Rounder/Concord) which follows 2007’s Raising Sand. Their new project rises 19-7 on the NACC 200 and moves 2-1 at NACC Folk this week.

The biggest mover into the NACC Top 20 this week comes from Dutch quartet Pip Blom. Their sophomore release, Welcome Break (Heavenly/PIAS), is one of two new records in the Top 20, rising 24-18. Pip Blom formed in Amsterdam as a solo project for the band’s namesake, expanding to a quartet before releasing their debut LP, Boat, in 2019.

Canadian singer-songwriter Julie Doiron makes a splash this week with her first solo LP since 2012. I Thought Of You, out on You’ve Changed Records, is this week’s most-added new release, collecting 49 Top 10 Adds. Her album also enjoys a rare #1 debut exploding onto the NACC Canadian Chart in the pole position. She also comes within a breath of the highest debut on the NACC 200 this week, opening at #46, just one spot behind Elbow.

Honorable mention this week goes to previous NACC Top 10-peaking band Land Of Talk, who scores the biggest climb on the NACC 200, rising 133-35.

Austin, TX-based band Spoon once again dominates the NACC Singles Chart for a fifth straight frame. “The Hardest Cut” is the lead single from their upcoming 10th LP, Lucifer On The Sofa, due February 11. English duo Wet Leg have finally announced their debut LP. Their self-titled record is set for release on April 8. Two more songs were released this week. The dual single “Too Late Now” b/w “Oh No” is this week’s most added single landing in the Top 10 of the overall NACC 200 Adds Chart.

This week’s Top 5 overall NACC Adds, the genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. Aside from the aforementioned new #1 at NACC Canadian & Folk, there are new #1s at Jazz and Hip Hop as well as returns to #1 on Blues and Chill.
