Although in some ways, my two shows feel like opposites of one another, I approach both of them with a spirit of wanting to create a special listening experience for the WYSO audience while also highlighting amazing music that doesn’t always get the spotlight in mass/commercial media.

KFAI is a community radio station that specializes in giving a platform for music and media for the community and emphasis on those who are underrepresented in the community. It looks and sounds like the Twin Cities more than any other radio station out there.

Because I have a degree in Cultural Anthropology, the process of contextualizing really excites me with all different styles. The commonalities and differences of music types, where they come from, who makes them, with what instruments are where I find endless enjoyment.

2018 has been such an interesting year in music so far. The amount of groundbreaking, original and well put together records to be released are hard to count, but if I have to pick one album I would have to say Little Dark Age by MGMT.

What excites me most about electronic music lately is the whole trend of “mutant pop” music, which is essentially taking a basic pop formula, injecting some very contemporary electronic instruments, many chords with unique progression, and extremely processed vocals.
