Tell us about KBCZ.  How it got started and how you first heard about it.

KBCZ was started by the Boulder Creek Recreation and Parks Department in 2012. We are a small town so the news of a potential station traveled by word of mouth, as well as the local press.

How long have you been at KBCZ? What is your history there?

My first shows, which were pre-produced, started airing in May 2016. I have been doing live broadcasts of my shows since September of 2016.

Tell us about your show and what sort of music you like to focus on.

I have 2 shows, one is on at 8 pm and that has more of a straight up rock/hard rock vibe to it. The Friday night 10 pm show has more of an aggressive/bombastic/in your face focus to it. I’m close to the roots of Bay Area Thrash Metal, so sometimes I’ll use that as a foundation for the Friday night show.

What artist/band are you most excited about who is supposed to release new music in 2018?

Allegaeon, Ex Mortus

Do you have a favorite artist or album you never get tired of listening to?

So many to choose from. As far as albums go I can ALWAYS listen to Sacred Reich – Heal, or Testament – Low, or Opeth – Ghost Reveries.

What is your favorite live show you have ever attended?

Too many to choose from. Ozzy and Metallica, or 1st time I saw Metallica, which was on the Ride the Lightning tour – with Armored Saint and Death Angel was monumental. In 2017 Exodus and Ex Mortus was fantastic!

Who is an artist or band outside the realm of your show that people might be surprised to know you love?

Limbomaniacs, The Reverend Horton Heat, Jimmie’s Chicken Shack “Pushing the Salmanilla Envelope”.

What is your best childhood memory?

New puppy, a waterbed for my 5th birthday, french toast on Saturdays.

What event in your life would you say shaped you the most as a person?

My high school graduation/commencement speech.

If you could choose, what time period in the past would you most want to travel back to and visit?

Early 70’s to watch the popularity of Black Sabbath grow, or, the 80’s at Ruthie’s Inn, to watch the birth and growth of what would become Bay Area Thrash Metal.

Do you have a favorite restaurant in town you always make sure to take guests/visitors to?

We live in a small town so it’s going to be Scopazzis, or more of a drive, the Seabright Brewery.

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?

The Only Thing You Have is Your Name + I Want You to be Happy.
