#1 Angel Olsen | The NACC Charts for October 22, 2019

After soaring 36-2 on the NACC 200 last week it seemed almost inevitable that Angel Olsen would reach the top of the chart. This week, her fourth LP (and third for Jagjaguwar), All Mirrors, moves 2-1 to become the 21st NACC 200 #1 of 2019. Olsen kicks off her North American tour this coming Monday in North Carolina with over two dozen shows that wrap up in Colorado on December 15. The New Pornographers (4-2) are Angel Olsen’s closest competition for the top spot next week.

Three albums reach the NACC Top 10 this week. Wilco leaps 20-8 and Tegan And Sara jump 18-7. But it’s Big Thief that make the biggest climb. After debuting at #33 last week, the Brooklyn-based quartet leaps to #9 this week to score a rare second Top 10 record of the year following U.F.O.F. Two Hands (out on 4AD/Beggars Group) is the band’s fourth LP and is what they are calling their “earth twin” to U.F.O.F.

The week’s biggest mover on the NACC 200 is actually the year’s biggest climb and the second biggest climb ever on the chart! Los Angeles-based Allah-Las soar 200-24 this week with their fourth LP, LAS. Formed in 2008, the band released its first two albums on Innovative Leisure. The two most recent LPs have been put out on Mexican Summer.

Making the highest debut on the NACC 200 this week is Los Angeles trio Clipping, stylized as clipping. Consisting of producers William Hutson and Jonathan Snipes, clipping. began in 2009 as a remix project until rapper Daveed Diggs joined and began writing original raps over their compositions. Their third LP, There Existed An Addiction To Blood came out on Sub Pop last Friday.

For only the second time, we have a tie for #1 on the NACC Adds Chart. Tying with 79 Top 10 Adds are Montreal-based band Corridor with their third LP, Junior. The newest signing to Sub Pop, the quartet has the distinction of being the label’s first Francophone signing in Sub Pop’s history. Also landing at #1 is Austin, TX duo Hovvdy. Heavy Lifter is their third album, with all of their LPs released on Double Double Whammy.

Soccer Mommy spends a third week on top of the NACC Singles Chart with “Lucy.” Aaron Maine, aka Porches returns with “rangerover” (which features backing vocals from Dev Hynes of Blood Orange) and has this week’s most-added single.
