Arlo Parks takes the crown for longest run ever on top of the NACC 200

She did it! British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks now holds the title for the longest run ever on top of the NACC 200. Her debut LP, Collapsed In Sunbeams (Transgressive/PIAS), spends its ninth straight week at #1 to take the all-time crown away from Mitski. Parks also reigns on NACC NEXT for a ninth frame and tops the R&B/Soul Chart for a seventh non-consecutive week. With her smallest #1 point total so far, could we have a new #1 next week? Only time will tell! Valerie June (5-2) and Chad VanGaalen (9-4) wait in the wings.

Another album that is a dark horse candidate for #1 next week is last week’s highest-debuting album, sketchy. (4AD/Beggars Group) from tUne-yArDs. The Oakland, CA duo’s fifth LP makes the biggest climb into the NACC Top 10 this week, leaping 28-7. Also reaching the Top 10 are Middle Kids, up 19-10.

The NACC 200’s highest debut this week is the second-highest debut of the year (behind Arlo Parks’ #7 debut 10 weeks ago). San Jose, CA duo Xiu Xiu, which was started in 2002 by Jamie Stewart (who is the only constant member since this project’s inception), also includes Angela Seo, who has been part of Xiu Xiu since 2009. Their twelfth LP, OH NO (Polyvinyl), explodes onto the chart this week at #13.

Last week’s most-added single from Beabadoobee accomplishes something only five singles have managed in NACC history: scoring the biggest climb on the NACC 200. “Last Day On Earth” (Dirty Hit) does them all one better though, by making the biggest climb any of those songs had on the chart with a 154 spot climb, up 197-43.

With a name that simultaneously delights both birds and Franklin Roosevelt is this week’s most-added album from Flock Of Dimes. The project is the solo pseudonym for Wye Oak lead singer Jenn Wasner whose second LP under this moniker is called Head Of Roses (Sub Pop). The album collects 80 Top 10 Adds (tied for second-most this year) and is a Top 5-highest debut this week on the NACC 200 at #38.

Michelle Zauner, who records as Japanese Breakfast, rises to #1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week with “Be Sweet,” the first single from her upcoming third LP, Jubilee, due June 4. Two artists tie for ‘most-added single’ honors this week: Nashville brother trio Saint Nomad (with their third single already in 2021: “Stay”) and San Diego trio Wavves (with their first new music since 2018: “Sinking Feeling”).
