Arlo Parks stunning run at #1 reaches a 12th week

British singer-songwriter Arlo Park‘s stunning and unprecedented run at #1 on the NACC 200 reaches a 12th week. Her debut LP, Collapsed In Sunbeams (Transgressive/PIAS), has now spent four weeks longer topping the chart than any other artist ever has. Her album also rebounds to #1 on NACC Non-Comm and spends another week atop the NACC NEXT Chart. Flock Of Dimes (3-2) and Spirit Of The Beehive (12-3) will mount another challenge for the top next week looking to become just the third #1 of 2021.

Nearly half of the NACC Top 10 contains music that wasn’t in it last week. Death From Above 1979 (16-10), Xiu Xiu (13-7), and Ratboy (11-6) all make strong moves into the top tier. But the biggest move belongs to the aforementioned Spirit Of The Beehive. The Philadelphia trio, formed in 2014, races 12-3 with their fourth LP, Entertainment, Death (Saddle Creek), the most-added album at NACC two weeks ago.

Virginia native Lucy Dacus lands this week’s biggest climb on the NACC 200 with her forthcoming album, Home Video (Matador/Beggars). It’s just the sixth advance-track LP to be the chart’s biggest mover. Dacus’ third LP arrives in June. Two songs from the album, “Thumbs” and “Hot & Heavy,” have already been most-added singles at NACC this year.

We didn’t imagine we’d be showcasing Sir Paul McCartney again so soon, but he’s back with his second release in less than five months. His latest, III Imagined (Capitol), is an album of remixes, reinterpretations, and covers from his III release. It features contributions from NACC favorites like Beck, St. Vincent, Phoebe Bridgers, Khruangbin, and Anderson .Paak among others. The album is this week’s highest debut at #34.

Collecting more Top 10 Adds than anyone else this week is British trio Kero Kero Bonito. Formed in London in 2011 when childhood friends Gus Lobban and Jamie Bulled recruited singer Sarah Midori Perry from a Japanese expatriates online bulletin board, the band most recently topped the NACC 200 in late 2018 with their second LP, Time ‘N’ Place. Their latest release is a packaging of their two latest EPs, Civilisation I & II (Polyvinyl).

Beabadobee locks down #1 on the NACC Singles Chart for a third week with “Last Day On Earth,” the first single from her upcoming EP, Our Extended Play, due later this Spring. Aussie quintet The Murdocs have this week’s most-added single with “Francesca.” It comes from their upcoming Bittersweet Demons LP, due June 25.

The NACC Top 5 overall adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. In addition to returns to #1 on the Hip Hop, Chill, and Blues Charts, there are new chart-toppers at R&B/Soul, Folk, and World this week.
