Arlo Parks Becomes First Artist to Earn Five #1 NACC Charts in a Single Week

British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks lands a second week at #1 on the NACC 200 with her debut LP, Collapsed In Sunbeams (Transgressive/PIAS), one of the Top 5 best-reviewed albums so far this year according to Metacritic. Parks now has the most dominant #1 on the NACC 200 dating back to April of 2019. Not only that, but she becomes the first artist to top the NACC 200, NACC Non-Comm, NACC NEXT, and NACC Canadian Charts simultaneously. And by leading the R&B/Soul Chart too, she is #1 on more NACC Charts simultaneously than any artist previously.

A higher than average four albums reach the NACC Top 10 this week. The Weather Station advances 11-4, Goat Girl climbs 13-8, and Pom Poko rises 12-9. But it’s UK quartet TV Priest that makes the biggest move into the top tier of the NACC 200, jumping 17-7 with their debut LP, Uppers (Sub Pop). The childhood friends played music as teenagers before going their separate ways, but they found their way back together in 2019.

Making the NACC 200’s biggest climb this week is Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Started as a band in 2004, CYHSY has been a solo project for original member Alec Ounsworth since 2014. New Fragility (CYHSY/Secretly), which leaps from 166-22 this week, is the second release Ounsworth has put out on his own under the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah moniker.

Austin, TX quartet Sun June returns with their sophomore release, Somewhere (Run For Cover) and the album is the highest debut on the NACC 200 this week jumping aboard the chart at #27. It follows their 2018 debut, Years as well as a 2019 EP, Younger.

The band so nice they named it twice, Django Django, is this week’s most-added artist. The British quartet formed in 2009 and retains all its original members. The band’s fourth LP, Glowing In The Dark (Because) collects 80 Top 10 Adds and debuts at #89 on the NACC 200.

Sloan Struble aka Dayglow tops the NACC Singles Chart this week with what is, so far, a stand-alone single. “Close To You” rises 2-1. Eric D. Johnson’s project Fruit Bats has this week’s most-added single with “The Balcony,” the second advance track from his forthcoming ninth LP, The Pet Parade.

The NACC Top 5 overall Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. In addition to a return to #1 at Chill, there are new chart-toppers at Latin, R&B/Soul, Hip Hop, and NACC Canadian.
