Arlo Parks ties Courtney Barnett for the second longest run at #1

British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks holds down #1 on the NACC 200 for a seventh straight week with her debut LP, Collapsed In Sunbeams (Transgressive/PIAS). She ties Courtney Barnett for the second-longest run at #1 on the NACC 200 dating back to its inception. If she can stay there next week she’ll tie Mitski for the all-time longest run. Parks also keeps her #1-run going at NACC NEXT and NACC Non-Comm.

Four albums reach the NACC Top 10 this week with all of them making impressive jumps into the top tier. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard jumps 42-10. We’ll be featuring the other three Top 10 debuts here this week.

The NACC 200’s second-biggest climber and the biggest climb into the Top 10 comes from Los Angeles five-piece Grouplove. Formed in 2009, the band, led by original members Christian Zucconi, Hannah Hooper, and Andrew Wessen, have released five LPs including their latest, This Is This (Atlantic). The album soars 138-8 on the NACC 200 this week.

Making the highest climb into the NACC Top 10 this week is Chicago’s The Fruit Bats. Led by Eric D. Johnson (who is the only official current member of this sometimes band), The Fruit Bands formed in 1997 and have released nine LPs. The latest, The Pet Parade (Merge), leaps 11-4 on the NACC 200 this week.

Tennessee native Valerie June Hockett, who records as Valerie June, races 61-7 on the NACC 200 with her fifth LP, and first since 2017, The Moon And Stars: Prescriptions For Dreamers (Fantasy/Concord). The album is currently one of the top 10-best reviewed albums of 2021 according to Metacritic.

Collecting the most Top 10 Adds this week (68) is Sydney, Australia trio Middle Kids. Formed in 2016, the band is back with their modestly-titled second studio album, Today We’re The Greatest (Domino). In addition to landing most-added honors this week, Middle Kids score one of the Top 5 debuts on the NACC 200 at #83.

St. Vincent locks down #1 on the NACC Singles Chart for a second week with the first single from her upcoming Daddy’s Home LP, “Pay Your Way In Pain.” The song also spends a second week at #22 on the NACC 200 (the highest a single has been on the NACC 200 this year). Vancouver quartet Said The Whale is back with “Honey Lungs.” The beloved Canadian band and Juno Award winners will be releasing their seventh LP later this year. This first taste of that album is the most-added single this week and one of just four singles to place inside the Top 10 of the NACC Adds Chart this entire year.

The NACC Top 5 overall Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. In addition to climbs back to #1 at R&B/Soul and Latin, there are new chart-toppers at Heavy & Chill this week.
