Arlo Parks once again rules the NACC Charts for a fifth week

British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks once again rules the NACC Charts this week. Her debut LP, Collapsed In Sunbeams (Transgressive/PIAS), spends a fifth week atop the NACC 200 and continues to hold a massive lead over the #2 record on the chart. She also commands the NACC Non-Comm, NACC NEXT, and R&B/Soul Charts again this week, and returns to #1 at NACC Canadian.

Arlo Parks has so far fought off challenges to her NACC 200 throne from Rhye, The Weather Station, and Kiwi Jr. Her next challenge will come from Tennessee musician Julien Baker. In addition to her work with Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus in boygenius (with who she was most recently in the NACC Top 10), Baker has released three solo LPs, including her latest, Little Oblivions (Matador/Beggars Group), which soars 25-2 this week.

The NACC 200’s highest debut is a surprise release from the legendary Nick Cave and his longtime Bad Seeds and Grinderman bandmate Warren Ellis. The two have released theatrical scores together, but this is their first non-movie collaboration. Carnage (Goliath Enterprises/AWAL) is the very best-reviewed new release of 2021 according to Metacritic and is one of just six albums to debut inside the Top 20 of the NACC 200 this year.

The NACC 200’s biggest climbing album this week comes from Dutch sextet Altin Gün. The Amsterdam-based band has released three LPs: On (2018), Gece (2019), and their latest, Yol (out on ATO Records). The album soars from 187-28 on the NACC 200 this week, which is the biggest climb on the chart so far this year.

Adult Mom is the brainchild of Purchase, NY native Stevie Knipe. Begun as a solo project in 2012, Adult Mom is now a trio and, along with five EPs, has three LPs under their belt, including their latest Epitaph release, Driver. The album collects 68 Top 10 Adds (the most this week) which certainly portends a lofty debut on the NACC 200 next week.

Dinosaur Jr. wastes no time roaring 25-1 on NACC Singles after scoring most-added honors last week on the NACC Singles side with “I Ran Away,” the first single from their Sweep It Into Space LP due April 23. St. Vincent returns with the first single from her upcoming Daddy’s Home LP. “Pay Your Way In Pain” earns a rare Top 10 placement on NACC 200 Adds and debuts at #28 on NACC Singles.

The NACC Top 5 overall Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. In addition to the return to #1 at NACC Canadian for Arlo Parks, there is a new chart-topper at Jazz this week.
