Bully lands a second week at #1 with SUGAREGG

Alicia Bognanno aka Bully lands a second week on top of the NACC 200 with her third release, SUGAREGG (Sub Pop), and holds a very comfortable lead over her competition, though two albums do leap into the Top 5 and hope to challenge for #1 in the weeks to come: Toots & The Maytals jumps 11-3 and Lomelda leaps 18-5.

In addition to the two aforementioned climbs into the NACC Top 5 from outside the Top 10, The Avett Brothers also reach the Top 10, racing 20-8. But it’s Texas-born singer Hannah Read, who records as Lomelda, who makes the biggest climb into the Top 10 with her fifth LP, Hannah (out on Double Double Whammy). According to Read, Lomelda is a made-up word that means, “echo of the stars.” OK.

The NACC 200’s biggest climb comes from a band who is reaching a desperate dilemma: they will soon run out of different ways to spell their name. After previously going by The Ohsees, The Oh Sees Thee Oh Sees, and Oh Sees (among others), the Los Angeles band (whose one constant is the main member John Dwyer), has released Protean Threat (Castle Face), their first album under their new spelling, Osees. This is the band’s 23rd studio album, dating back to its inception in 1997.

Last week’s most-added record from Cults is now this week’s highest debut on the NACC 200. The NYC duo of Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion debuts at #16 with their fifth LP, Host (Sinderlyn). It’s one of the five highest debuts this year on the NACC 200.

The week’s most-added album comes from Los Angeles musician Angel Deradoorian, who records using just her last name. Deradoorian was a member of Dirty Projectors from 2007-2012. Find The Sun is her second solo release, following her 2015 debut The Expanding Flower Planet. The album collects 66 Top 10 Adds and snuck onto the NACC 200 this week at #200.

Father John Misty holds down the top spot on NACC Singles for a third straight week with his single “For S” b/w “For R.” And Wilco front-man Jeff Tweedy returns with two new tracks from his forthcoming Love Is The King LP: “Guess Again” b/w “Love Is The King,” due October 23. He lands the most-added single of the week, besting Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings by one add.

The NACC Top 5 overall adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. In addition to returns to #1 at Chill and Hip Hop, there are new chart-toppers at Heavy, Jazz, Blues, Latin, R&B/Soul, and NACC Canadian.
