#1 Fiona Apple | The NACC Charts for the week ending May 26 are live!

Fiona Apple takes sole possession of bragging rights for the longest stay at #1 on the NACC 200 this year and has now been at #1 longer than any artist since Black Keys spent five weeks at #1 in August of 2019. Her fifth LP, Fetch The Bolt Cutters (Epic) once again fends off all comers, though the first signs of susceptibility may be showing as Car Seat Headrest upsets her trio of NACC #1s by reaching the top at NACC NEXT Chart this week.

Two new albums reach the NACC Top 10 this week. Man Man rises 24-10, but the biggest climb into the top tier comes from Mike Hadreas, who records as Perfume Genius. Hadreas first began sharing his music in 2008 on his MySpace page. Remember that? He’s released five LPs including his latest, Set My Heart Of Fire Immediately (Matador/Beggars). The album leaps 37-9 this week.

The NACC 200’s highest debut this week opens at #43. It comes from Portland, OR musician Maria Maita-Keppeler, who records as MAITA. Signed To Kill Rock Stars, MAITA’s debut Best Wishes
actually got Kill Rock Stars founder Slim Moon excited enough to get back involved with the label after a 13-year hiatus.

The week’s biggest climb comes from Washington DC musician Nick Hakim. His second LP, Will This Make Me Good, soars from 200-44 on the NACC 200 this week. The ATO Records release bests the next biggest climb on the chart by 30 positions.

College/Community radio stalwarts Deerhoof return this week and take Most-Added honors with their sixteenth LP, Future Teenage Cave Artists. The band, formed in 1994 in San Francisco, receives its first feature here on the weekly NACC Chart Recap, by collecting 59 Top 10 Adds. The Joyful Noise release also debuts on the NACC 200 this week at #164.

The Rolling Stones make it four straight weeks at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart with “Living In A Ghost Town.” L.A. quartet Girl Friday collects more Top 10 Adds than any other single this week with “Amber’s Knees: A Matter Of Concern,” from their debut LP, Androgynous Mary, due out August 21.

The NACC 200’s Top 5 overall NACC Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. There are new #1s at Jazz and Blues along with a return to #1 at Folk.
