#1 Fiona Apple | The NACC Charts for the week ending May 5

After making the third-biggest climb ever to #1 on the NACC 200 last week, Fiona Apple locks down the top spot for a second week with her fifth LP, Fetch The Bolt Cutters (Epic), the very best-reviewed album of the year thus far. The album pulls off a chart-dominating hat trick this week as Apple rises 2-1 on both the NACC NEXT and NACC Non-Comm Charts as well.

Only one new album rises into the NACC Top 10 this week. It comes from Laura Marling, who we profiled here a couple of weeks ago when she was the week’s biggest climber on the chart. The Brit Award winner and Mercury Prize and Grammy Award nominee climbs 11-6 this week with her seventh album, Song For Our Daughter (Chrysalis/Partisan).

The week’s highest debut (and one the Top 5-highest debuts of the year) comes from Car Seat Headrest. Begun as a solo project for Virginia native Will Toledo in 2010, he self-released a dozen albums before signing with Matador/Beggars in 2015. The project expanded to a four-member band the next year. Making A Door Less Open debuts at #18.

Enjoying the fourth biggest climb on the NACC 200 this week is the Los Angeles quintet AWOLNATION. The band’s fourth LP, Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders, soars from 194-41 on the chart this week. Lead singer Aaron Bruno is also a former member of Home Town Hero (200-2004) and Under The Influence Of Giants (2004-2008).

Los Angeles quartet Chicano Batman lands the most-added record of the week with their fourth LP, Invisible People. The band, formed in 2008, bested Man Man by just a single Top 10 Add for the top spot on the NACC Adds Chart this week collecting 63 Top 10 Adds. The album also debuts at #97 on the NACC 200 this week.

Legendary UK-quartet The Rolling Stones debut at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart with “Living In A Ghost Town,” their first new music in four years. Two new singles tie for most-added this week: Bad Suns (“I’m Not Having Any Fun”) and Munya (“Boca Chica”).

The NACC Top 5 overall NACC Adds, this week’s #1 genre releases, and the most-added genre records are included below. We have new #1s at Blues, Hip Hop, Folk, & Latin.
