Fleet Foxes hold down #1 spot for a second week with fourth album, Shore

Sylvan Esso closed a big gap between themselves and Fleet Foxes this week in the battle for #1 on the NACC 200 this week, but in the end, Fleet Foxes held down the top spot for a second week with their fourth album, Shore (Anti-). The Seattle 5-piece also spends a third week at #1 at NACC NEXT though Sylvan Esso rises to #1 on NACC Non-Comm.

Three new albums reach the NACC 200’s Top 10 this week and the two biggest instantly throw their hats into the ring for #1 before the year ends. Death Valley Girls soar 19-5 with their fourth LP, Under The Spell Of Joy (Suicide Squeeze). Formed in 2013 by Hole drummer Patty Schemel and her brother Larry, the Los Angeles quartet makes the biggest climb into the NACC Top 10 this week.

The other most-noteworthy Top 10 debut this week is also this week’s highest debut on the NACC 200. Slow Pulp ties My Morning Jacket for the highest debut of 2020. The two bands are also the only artists to debut inside the NACC Top 10 this year, both opening at #10. One thing Slow Pulp has done that no artist has ever done on the NACC 200 is debut inside the Top 10 with their very first release.

Beatrice Laus, who records as Beabadoobee, has seen her star rise dramatically since she began making music in 2017. After a series of EPs and a guest turn on Powfu’s international hit “Death Bed (Coffee For Your Head)” earlier this year, she finally released her debut LP, Fake It Flowers (Dirty Hit), on Friday. It’s the most-added album of the week, collecting 68 Top 10 adds, and opening at #41 on the NACC 200 this week.

Future Islands enjoy the biggest climb into the NACC Top 20 this week, rising 80-20, with As Long As You Are (4AD/Beggars Group), the band’s sixth LP since forming in 2006 in Greenville, NC. Now based in Baltimore, MD, the quartet also makes one of the Top 5 overall climbs of the week on the main chart.

Romy, the lead singer of the xx, spends a second week at #1 on the NACC Singles with her first solo single, “Lifetime.” NACC 200 Chart-topper Julia Jacklin is back with her first new music of 2020. Double-sided single “to Perth, before the border closes” b/w “CRY” collects the most top 10 adds of any single this week.

The NACC 200’s Top 20, the Top 5 overall NACC Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. In addition to a return to #1 at Folk and Latin, there are new chart-toppers at NACC Non-Comm, NACC Canadian, Heavy, and Hip Hop.
