Low nails down a second week at #1 with their 13th LP

It was a nail-biter last week with the two highest-ranking albums on the NACC 200 (from Low and Amyl & The Sniffers) separated by mere points. This week Duluth, MN duo Low finds slightly more breathing room and nails down a second week at #1 with their 13th LP, HEY WHAT (Sub Pop). The album also has the most points of any #1 on the NACC 200 dating back to June when Japanese Breakfast was at the beginning of their #1 chart run.

Three albums reach the NACC 200’s Top 10 this week. Slothrust rises 11-9 and Colleen Green hops 15-10. But it’s last week’s highest debut from Sufjan Stevens & Angelo De Augustine that makes the biggest move leaping 26-7 with their collaborative movie-themed album, A Beginner’s Mind (out of Stevens’s own Asthmatic Kitty).

Portland, OR quartet The Shivas are back with their seventh LP. It has a title that covers all the bases: Feels So Good // Feels So Bad (Tender Loving Empire). The band, which formed in 2006, storms the NACC 200 at #21 this week, the highest debut the chart has seen in over a month.

NYC four-piece The Mommyheads enjoys this week’s biggest climb on the NACC 200. Formed in 1987, the band disbanded in 1998, reforming in 2008, and making music together ever since. The band’s sixteenth studio album, Age Of Isolation (Self-Released), follows a remastered and re-released version of their second album, Coming Into Beauty, earlier this year, and soars 164-29 on the NACC 200 this week.

Taking most-added honors this week is the Los Angeles quartet Illuminati Hotties, fronted by Sarah Tudzin. The band’s third album, Let Me Do One More (released jointly between Tudzin’s own imprint, Snack Shack Tracks and Hopeless Records), collects 74 Top 10 Adds and debuts at #125 on the NACC 200. The album is already one of the Top 20 best-reviewed albums of 2021 according to Metacritic

Snail Mail grabs a second week at #1 atop the NACC Singles Chart with her new single “Valentine,” the title track from her upcoming second LP, due November 5. Idles return with the most-added single of the week (out of the 41 that went for adds). “The Beachland Ballroom” hails from the UK band’s fifth LP, Crawler, due November 12.

This week’s Top 5 overall NACC Adds, the genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. There are no new chart-toppers this week, but we do have two returns to #1 at R&B/Soul and Blues.
