#1 Phoebe Bridgers | NACC Charts for the week ending July 14

We headed into the holiday break with Run The Jewels on top of the NACC 200 for a second week and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Phoebe Bridgers close behind at #2 and #3 respectively and looking to challenge for #1. When the dust settled this week, all three albums remained the Top 3 albums of the week, but Los Angeles musician Phoebe Bridgers has risen 3-1 with her sophomore LP, Punisher. The Dead Oceans release also climbed to #1 on NACC NEXT.

An impressive turnover takes place in the NACC Top 10 this week with four albums reaching the NACC Top 10. Khruangbin jumped 12-4, Built To Spill climbed 13-6, and Haim roared up 56-7. But it was Pottery, a five-piece based in Montreal, who made the biggest climb, a spectacular 148-8 leap, into the Top 10 with the most recent ‘most-added’ record of the week. Their debut LP, Welcome To Bobby’s Motel, is out on Partisan Records.

Taking two of our feature spots this week is New Zealand quartet The Beths. Formed in 2015, the band’s debut album, Future Me Hates Me, was featured as the week’s biggest climber back in August of 2018 (and one of the 10 biggest climbers ever on the NACC 200). Their new album is not only this week’s most-added but soared onto the NACC 200 at #19. Jump Rope Gazers (Carpark) is one of the Top 10 highest debuts of 2020.

With The Beths taking two feature spots, we have the opportunity to shine a light on one other release. We chose the aforementioned second-biggest climber into the Top 10 this week. Sister trio Haim have returned with their long-anticipated third LP, Women In Music, Pt. III. The album was originally scheduled for release in April but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Six songs were released ahead of the album’s rescheduled release.

The NACC 200’s biggest climb this week comes from Venezuelan artist Alejandra Ghersi who records as Arca. Arca has released four studio albums, including her latest, KiCk i, out on XL/Beggars Group. Soaring from 194-34 on the NACC 200 this week, Arca enjoys the third biggest top-climber on the chart this year.

Elvis Costello spends a third week at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart with his protest single “No Flag.” Baltimore, MD band Future Islands returns with their first new music in three years. “For Sure” is the most-added new single this week.

The NACC Top 5 overall NACC Adds, this week’s genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. There are new #1s at NACC Non-Comm, NACC NEXT, NACC Canadian, Blues, Jazz, R&B/Soul, Chill, Electronic, & as well as returns to #1 on World & Latin.
