#1 (Sandy) Alex G | The NACC Charts for October 8, 2019

After scoring most-added honors in 2017 with his 7th LP, Rocket, (Sandy) Alex G‘s 8th LP, House Of Sugar (which was also a NACC Most-Added record three weeks ago), does what Rocket was unable to do and becomes Alexander Giannascolo’s first NACC 200 #1 record. The Domino Recording Company release rises 2-1 on the chart this week becoming the 20th #1 of the year. That outpaces 2018’s 19 #1s with nine chart weeks still remaining on the year.
Three albums reach the NACC Top 10 this week. Vivian Girls rise 16-9 and Alabama Shakes’ lead singer Brittany Howard also moves 24-5 with her first solo release. Last week’s highest NACC 200 debut (as well as the most-added album of the week) is this week’s biggest climber into the NACC Top 10. The New Pornographers leap 28-6 with their eighth LP (and second for Concord), In The Morse Code Of Brake Lights.

Soaring 189-26 on the NACC 200 this week, tying it for the 5th biggest climb of the year, is LA trio Automatic. Comprised of Izzy Glaudini, Lola Dompé, and Halle Saxon, the band formed in 2017 and sees their debut LP, Signal (out on Stones Throw) land this week’s biggest move on the NACC 200.

The Top 5 of this week’s NACC 200 Adds Chart sees the greatest number of Top 10 Adds we’ve seen in some time. Even the #4 add received more Top 10 adds than many #1 adds on previous weeks. In the end, Brooklyn quartet DIIV landed on top tying for the 5th most Top 10 adds of the year. Their third LP, Deceiver, (out on Captured Tracks as their first two were) collects 94 Top 10 adds this week.

Soccer Mommy holds down the top spot on the NACC Singles Chart again this week with “Lucy.” The week’s most-added single is a rare self-released one. It comes from Rhett Repko with his new single “I Don’t Wanna Talk To You.”
