#1 Soccer Mommy | The NACC Charts for the week ending March 24

For the first time ever, the Top 6 of the NACC 200 remain stationary from last week.  The biggest beneficiary of that logjam is Nashville-based musician Sophie Allison aka Soccer Mommy, who spends a second week at #1 with her fourth LP, Color Theory (Loma Vista/Concord).  Next week, Caribou (who holds at #2) will make another run at unseating Soccer Mommy.

Chicago quartet Ratboys makes the biggest move into the NACC Top 10 this week rising 17-8 with their third studio album, Printer’s Devil.  Formed in 2010 by Julia Steiner and Dave Sagan while they attended Notre Dame, the band signed to Topshelf Records before releasing their debut LP in 2015 and have remained with the label ever since.  Also reaching the Top 10 for the first time this week is Nathaniel Rateliff (12-10).

The highest-debuting album on the NACC 200 this week comes from British quartet Porridge Radio.  Their sophomore release has been met with rave reviews, currently nestled in the Top 10 of Metacritic’s best-reviewed albums of 2020.  Every Bad also marks the band’s debut on Secretly Canadian.  The album leaps aboard the chart at #27.

This week’s biggest mover on the NACC 200 comes from blues and swing revival big band Roomful Of Blues.  Formed way back in 1967, more than 50 musicians have played in the band over the years. Alto and tenor saxophonist Rich Lataille is the only remaining member of the original line-up.  In A Roomful Of Blues is the band’s 19th LP and 6th for Alligator Records.  It jumps from 171-71 on the chart.

Collecting the most Top 10 Adds this week is Los Angeles trio Moaning.   Sean Soloman, Pascal Stevenson, and Andrew MacKelvie met as teenagers growing up in the San Fernando Valley.  Their new Sub Pop release, Uneasy Laughter, follows up their self-titled 2018 debut.

The Killers are back with “Caution,” the first single from their forthcoming sixth LP, Imploding The Mirage.  The song debuts at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week.  Built To Spill score most-added single honors for a second time this year with “Living In Vain” from their upcoming Built To Spill Plays The Songs Of Daniel Johnston due May 1.

The NACC Top 20, the Top 5 overall NACC Adds, all of this week’s #1 genre releases, and most-added genre records are included below.  There are new #1s at Jazz & Chill as well as returns to #1 at World, Folk & Blues.
