Soccer Mommy locks down #1 on the NACC 200 for a fourth straight week

Sophie Allison, who records as Soccer Mommy, locks down #1 on the NACC 200 for a fourth straight week and in doing so has now logged the most weeks on top of the chart this year. Her fourth LP, Color Theory (Loma Vista/Concord), fends off Caribou who have waited patiently at #2 all four weeks she’s been at #1 They may have waited too long as Waxahatchee has jumped in to the race for the top next week, leaping 24-3 this week.

Waxahatchee isn’t the only new group to reach the NACC Top 10 this week. Moaning also burst ahead 21-6. But it’s Seattle’s Pearl Jam who make the biggest climb into the upper tier, jumping 32-10. The band, who were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 (their first year of eligibility), released their eleventh LP, Gigaton on March 27. The seven-year gap between releases is the longest break the band has ever taken. Gigaton, out on Monkeywrench/Republic, debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 and keeps Pearl Jam’s streak alive of having every one of their LPs reaching the Top 5 on the album chart.

Half Waif (the stage name for Nandi Rose Plunkett) enjoys the highest debut on the NACC 200 this week at #18. Plunkett, who grew up in Massachusetts, is also a member of Pinegrove (who we featured here earlier this year) and is married to band member Zack Levine. The Caretaker (Anti-) is her fourth solo LP and scores one of the top 5 highest debuts of 2020 on the NACC 200.

The chart’s biggest mover this week comes from Copenhagen, Denmark one-woman, black metal band Amalie Bruun who records as Myrkur. Bruun has released three LPs (all on Relapse Records), including her latest, Folkesange, which leaps from 200-55 on the NACC 200 this week.

Collecting the most Top 10 Adds this week is Anna Burch, who actually records as Anna Burch! The Detroit musician landed the most-added record of the week with her debut LP, Quit The Curse, back in 2018. That album went on to make the biggest climb into the Top 10 and eventually rose to #1. Her sophomore LP, If You’re Dreaming, has already snuck onto the NACC 200 at #194 so it’s entirely possible she’ll back featured here next week as the biggest mover.

The Killers hold down #1 on the NACC Singles Chart for a third week with “Caution,” the first single from their sixth LP, Imploding The Mirage, due May 29. Two artists tie for most-added single honors this week: Bright Eyes (for the first time ever) are the most-added single for a second week in-a-row with “Personal Non Grata.” Death Cab For Cutie lead singer Benjamin Gibbard also lands most-added single honors with his of-the-moment single, “Life In Quarantine.”

The NACC Top 5 overall Adds, all of this week’s #1 genre releases, and most-added genre records are included below. There are new #1s at World, Jazz, & Heavy.
