#1 Tame Impala | NACC Charts for the week ending March 3

The battle for #1 was a close one this week between Andy Shauf (last week’s #1), Destroyer (who have been patiently waiting inside the Top 3), and the fast-charging Tame Impala. In the end, Tame Impala came out on top rising 4-1 with their fourth LP, The Slow Rush. The album (out on Interscope) recently debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 selling over 100,000 equivalent album units, which is more than twice what their previous album, Currents, sold in its first week of release back in 2015.

Three albums reach the NACC Top 10 this week. Caroline Rose rises 12-8 and Best Coast race 26-5. But it’s London-born singer/rapper/producer Archy Ivan Marshall aka King Krule who makes the biggest move into the top tier of the NACC 200, with his fourth LP, Man Alive! The True Panter/Matador release jumps 33-9 this week.

The fifth album from Caribou is this week’s highest debuting album at #24. Caribou is the recording name for Manitoba, Canada native Dan Snaith. Suddenly is the first Caribou album since 2014 and Snaith’s tenth LP overall as he has also also recorded under the names Manitoba and Daphni.

The NACC 200’s biggest mover this week comes from California trio James Supercave. Formed in 2010, the band have released two EPs and one LP ahead of their self-released third EP, M.O.W.A. They jump 194-103 on the chart this week.

This week’s most-added album comes from Nashville, TN singer/songwriter Sophie Allison who records as Soccer Mommy. The follow-up to her #1 NACC-charting album, Clean, is the most-added album on NACC since May of 2018. Color Theory (out on Loma Vista/Concord) collects 116 Top 10 Adds this week and debuts on the NACC 200 at #26.

Glass Animals leap 10-1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week with their new song “Your Love (Deja Vu)” which they released in conjunction with their current sold-out North American tour. Dirty Projectors return with their first new music in two years. “Overlord” is the most-added single of the week and the band’s first to feature touring guitarist and background vocalist Maia Friedman on lead vocals.

The NACC Top 5 overall NACC Adds, all of this week’s #1 genre releases, and most-added genre records are included below. There is a new #1s at Electronic and returns to #1 at R&B/Soul and Jazz.
