#1 The Black Keys | The NACC Charts for August 6, 2019

This week The Black Keys score their fourth straight week at #1 and in doing so match the longest run at #1 in 2019. Their Easy Eye Sound/Nonesuch Records release ‘Let’s Rock’ matches Girlpool, Weyes Blood, and Vampire Weekend for the most time spent on top this year. The Akron, OH duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney will look to take that honor all for themselves next week. Attempting to stop them will be Blood Orange (5-2) and Purple Mountains (7-4).

Just one album ascends into the NACC Top 10 this week. It comes from DC-based five-piece Gauche. The two core members of the band, Jason P Barnett & Mary Jane Regalado, are also members of Priests and Downtown Girls, respectively. Although they recorded a cassette entitled Get Away in 2015, their proper debut album has been in the works since 2016. The Merge release, A People’s Guide To Gauche, has finally seen the light of day and rises 14-9 on the NACC 200 this week.

Last week’s most-added album from Seattle trio Dude York is this week’s biggest climber on the NACC 200. Their fourth LP, Falling, soars from 146-13 this week. The album, out on Hardly Art, is the first where Peter Richard and Claire England basically split lead vocal duties. Previous efforts featured Richard far more than England.

Highest debut honors this week were as close as they come. Coming up just short was NYC trio B Boys who debuted at #46. Besting them by one solitary spot (savvy math savants will know that means they debuted at #45) is New Zealand five-piece Leisure. The band released its debut self-titled LP in 2016 and it debuted at #2 in their home country. Now signed to Nettwerk, they’ve just released their self-produced sophomore album, Twister.

This week’s most added album comes from Claire Cottrill, who records as Clairo. In June of 2018 her debut EP, Diary 001, was featured here when it was a NACC 200 biggest climber. Now she’s back on our Wednesday chart recap after collecting the most Top 10 adds this week with her debut LP, Immunity (out on Fader). The album has already jumped aboard the NACC 200 this week at #62.

Wilco‘s “Love Is Everywhere (Beware)” spends a second week at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week with the first taste of their upcoming 11th LP, Ode To Joy. This week’s most-added single comes from enigmatic singer & producer Gabriel Black. He’s teamed up with Flying Lotus protege Phem on “Dead Yet.”
