The NACC Charts For July 25 Are Live!

Your NACC Chart Recap is here.
————————————————————

This is the fourth week we’ve gotten to feature an exploding Rolls Royce in our email and I think we’re all the better for it. Thank you to Portugal. The Man for the truly eye-catching visual. They hold down #1 on the NACC 200 for a second straight week. The band just announced Fall tour dates which span 19 shows from October 2-29 and includes dates all across the US and even a few in Mexico.

There are three new albums in the Top 10 this week including a big 11-3 jump for Waxahatchee. But the most impressive move is from Broken Social Scene. Last week’s most added record storms the Top 10, racing 24-5 and also crowns the latest NACC Next Chart, rising 7-1. As mentioned here last week, Hug Of Thunder features all 15 original members of the band, including many artists who have gone on to huge success away from BSS: Emily Haines & James Shaw of Metric, Leslie Feist, Jason Collett, and Stars’ Amy Millan & Evan Cranley. Congrats to Arts & Crafts and Pirate. Definitely looks like a battle may be brewing for the #1 spot next week!

This week’s biggest climb on the NACC 200 belongs to New Swears. Newly signed to Dine Alone Records, And The Magic Of Horses (and props to the band for finding three of the most magical-looking horses around for their album cover) sees New Swears looking to grow beyond their party-punk roots. The band’s second LP enjoys a 181-92 move on the chart this week.

The highest debut on the NACC 200 this week is from Oh Wonder. The London-based duo of Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West began making music together in 2014. Ultralife (out on Island Records) is their second LP and debuted earlier this month in the Top 10 on the UK Albums Chart. It opens at #48 on our chart. Kudos to Co-Sign for the top new entry this week.

Never one to test the phrase “absence makes the heart grow fonder,” the ever prolific Robert Pollard is back with his 101st release (including solo and other projects). In fact, you have to go back 1991 to find a year Pollard did not release some sort of music. How Do You Spell Heaven is Guided By Voices’ (his longest running and most durable band) 25th studio album and follows April’s double album August By Cake. GVB’s latest is the most added release at college and community radio this week. Hats off to Planetary on top add honors.
