#1 Waxahatchee | The NACC Charts for the week ending April 14 are live!

Katie Crutchfield, who records as Waxahatchee, wastes no time taking over the top spot of the NACC 200 this week and ending Soccer Mommy’s four-week reign. Crutchfield’s fifth LP, Saint Cloud (Merge), soared to #1 in just three weeks rising 24-3-1. It’s the first ‘during quarantine-released’ #1 of this pandemic, the 8th chart-topper of 2020, and Waxahatchee’s second NACC 200 #1 following Out In The Storm’s #1-run in August of 2017.

Two new albums reach the NACC Top 10 this week. Montreal’s TOPS rises 28-10. But it’s Sean Bowie, better known as Yves Tumor, who enjoys the biggest climb into the Top 10, leaping 45-6. Bowie was born in Miami, FL, raised in Knoxville, TN, and currently resides in Turin, Italy. His fourth LP (and second on Warp Records), Heaven To A Tortured Mind, is currently the second-best reviewed album of the year according to Metacritic.

Last week we anticipated that the most-added record of the week from Anna Burch might be this week’s biggest climber. We were correct! But Burch did us one better by scoring the biggest climb ever on the NACC 200! Her second LP, If You’re Dreaming, soars 194-15 this week, besting Dan Deacon, who set the record himself just this past February.

New York quartet The Strokes are back with their first release in seven years. Their sixth LP, The New Abnormal, is the highest debut on the NACC 200 this week at #31. Their album has been released on lead singer Julian Casablancas’ imprint, Cult Records, which he started in 2009 for his solo releases. But Cult became a stand-alone label in 2014 and is now home to a number of artists such as Karen O, The Growlers, and The Strokes.

The most-added record this week comes from Stephen Lee Bruner, who records as Thundercat. His fourth LP, It Is What It Is (out on Flying Lotus’ label Brainfeeder), follows his 2017 NACC 200-chart topper, Drunk. It Is What It Is is also already on the NACC 200 this week and rises 53-26.

Bright Eyes moves 2-1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week with “Personal Non Grata,” their first new music in nine years. The most added-single of the week comes from Australian duo The Avalanches, who team with Pink Siifu and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, for their new track, “Running Red Lights.”

The NACC Top 5 overall NACC Adds, all of this week’s #1 genre releases, and most-added genre records are included below. There are new #1s at NACC Non-Comm, NACC NEXT, Chill, R&B/Soul, Latin, & Heavy as well as a return to #1 at NACC Canadian.
