Wet Leg rules the NACC 200 for a fourth straight week

The UK duo Wet Leg rules the NACC 200 for a fourth straight week with their eponymous debut LP (Domino). The move places them alone in second place behind Beach House for the longest run at #1 so far this year. They also spend a fourth week atop the NACC NEXT and NACC Non-Comm Charts. The fourth week at #1 on Non-Comm ties them with Robert Plant & Alison Krauss for the longest run at #1 on that chart in 2022. Though Wet Leg still maintains a comfortable lead at #1 on the NACC 200, Father John Misty (2-2), Kurt Vile (4-3), and Fontaines DC (5-4) would sure like to change that.

Just one album reaches the NACC Top 10 this week, but it’s a hefty move. South Carolina native Chaz Bundick, who records as Toro Y Moi, leaps from 34-9 with his seventh studio album, MAHAL. The album is his first release on Dead Oceans. His previous LP, Outer Peace, reached #1 on the NACC 200 in 2019 and spent two weeks on top.

The biggest climber into the NACC Top 20 this week (and the second biggest climb on the chart overall) comes from British duo Let’s Eat Grandma. Formed in 2013, the geriatric cannibal enthusiasts have released three LPs. Their latest, Two Ribbons (Transgressive/PIAS), leaps from 137-20 as it looks to becomes their second Top 10 album, following 2018’s I’m All Ears.

Enjoying the highest debut on the NACC 200 this week is Grammy, Juno, Meteor Music, & Brit Award winners Arcade Fire. Fresh off their performance on SNL, the Canadian five-piece races onto the NACC 200 at #23 with their sixth LP, WE. Their previous LP, Everything Now, spent a week at #1 on the NACC 200 in September of 2017.

Honorable mention goes to The Folk Implosion, whose new EP, Feel It If You Feel It (their first new music since 2000), is this week’s biggest climber, up 194-56.

Taking most-added honors this week is Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. The Melbourne quintet are back with their third LP, Endless Rooms (Sub Pop). The album collects 60 Top 10 Adds this week coming in just ahead of Sharon Van Etten for the top spot on the NACC 200 Top 30 Adds Chart. It’s the band’s third straight album to take most-added honors.

Akron duo The Black Keys are back at #1 on the NACC Singles Chart this week. They spent two weeks at #1 with “Wild Child” before Soccer Mommy took over with “Shotgun.” This week they take back the crown rising back 4-1 with the first single from their upcoming 11th LP, Dropout Boogie, which comes out Friday. Two artists tie for ‘most-added single’ this week. Japanese quartet CHAI are back with “Surprise.” It coincides with an announcement of new North American tour dates with Hippo Campus. The other artist tying for most-added single is Ghana-born, Canadian-residing artist Mauvey. “The King” previews his sophomore LP due later in 2022. The song is also the #2 add at NACC Hip Hop Adds this week.

This week’s Top 5 overall NACC Adds, the genre chart-toppers, and the week’s most-added genre records are included below. There are new #1s at Heavy and Jazz this week.
